Oregon Issues Full November Food Benefits Overnight: More Than 750,000 Residents Can Access Full Amounts on Oregon Trail Cards from Friday

The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) announced that after a federal court ordered the federal government to fully fund food assistance (SNAP), the department processed payments overnight and loaded full November benefits onto residents' Oregon Trail Cards, with more than 750,000 Oregonians able to access the full amounts from Friday morning.
November benefits had faced reduction or delay amid the federal funding dispute. ODHS said that as soon as the court order came down, its teams worked through the night on system processing so that residents would find full balances when shopping Friday morning.
Governor Tina Kotek had earlier declared a statewide hunger emergency, committing $5 million to the Oregon Food Bank Network and another $1 million to tribal governments to sustain food distribution while federal funding was in doubt.
The department reminded residents that benefits were posted on the normal schedule and no re-application is needed; questions about amounts can be checked through the ODHS website or local offices. The state said it will keep monitoring federal funding for subsequent months and will notify residents in advance of any change. (Source: Oregon Department of Human Services)
