'Paper Tiger' Opens in Select Theaters November 13: Two Brothers Tangled With the Russian Mob
Neon's crime drama Paper Tiger opens in select U.S. theaters on November 13, expanding nationwide on November 20 over the Thanksgiving frame. Written and directed by James Gray, it stars Adam Driver, Miles Teller and Scarlett Johansson, and held its Los Angeles premiere at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater on November 5.
Set in New York in 1986, it follows engineer Irwin (Teller), who accepts a seemingly lucrative proposition from his brother Gary (Driver), a former police officer; after one of them witnesses something he was not meant to see, the family is pulled into a confrontation with the emerging Russian mafia. Johansson plays Irwin's wife. Gray shot on 35mm film with tungsten light to recreate 1986.
The film premiered in competition at the 79th Cannes Film Festival on May 16, where it vied for the Palme d'Or, and later opened the 64th New York Film Festival.
