Florida Baptist Convention's 164th Annual Meeting Opens November 9 in Orlando: 'Holy Urgency' Theme With a Same-Day Pastors' Conference

The Florida Baptist Convention will hold its 164th annual meeting November 9-10 at First Baptist Church of Orlando (3000 S. John Young Parkway) in Orlando, Orange County, Florida. This year's theme is 'Holy Urgency,' chosen by convention president Brian Stowe, senior pastor of First Baptist Church Plant City.
The schedule runs across two full days. On November 9, a Pastors' Conference meets from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. under the theme 'Overcome,' led by conference president Jeff Robinson; the annual meeting's first session follows that evening from 6:15 to 8:50 p.m. Two more sessions are set for November 10, from 8:45 a.m. to noon and from 1:45 to 3:55 p.m. Messengers will hear reports from convention agencies, handle business motions and elect new leadership.
Speakers on the program include Stephen Rummage, Louis Egipciaco, Ted Traylor, Robert Smith of Beeson Divinity School and Albert Mohler, president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Fifty exhibitors from ministries and partner organizations will staff the exhibit area.
Ahead of the meeting, Florida Baptist churches across the state observed a statewide Baptism Sunday on November 1 as a spiritual lead-in to the gathering. The Florida Baptist Convention is the state convention affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, and its annual meeting is the largest yearly gathering of Florida Baptist churches, whose messengers vote on convention business.
The convention encourages attendees to review the schedule and venue information in advance; meeting details are posted at flbaptist.org.
