Impact Aid Construction Grant Competition Open: Applications for Emergency School Facility Repairs Due November 10

The U.S. Department of Education's Impact Aid discretionary construction grant competition is now accepting applications, with a hard deadline of 11:59:59 p.m. Eastern Time on November 10. Applications must be submitted through the APPLY function on Grants.gov, leaving eligible districts only days to finalize their paperwork.
Impact Aid is the federal program that compensates school districts affected by federal activity: land occupied by military installations, tribal lands and other federal property generates no local property taxes, while school budgets depend heavily on those taxes. The construction grants address school facility emergency and modernization needs in those federally impacted districts.
The competition, listed under Assistance Listing Number 84.041C, carries one absolute priority: emergency repairs to school facilities. Projects addressing urgent needs — the kind of repairs that bear on safety and basic operations — will sit at the front of the line in the review process. Local educational agencies that qualify under Impact Aid may apply.
The Education Department has delegated administration of this competition to the Employment and Training Administration of the Department of Labor, and application procedures follow the competition notice on Grants.gov. Districts are urged to check eligibility requirements and document checklists carefully before the deadline so that a paperwork problem does not disqualify an otherwise eligible application.
Questions about the competition can be directed to Jacqueline Bass at (202) 987-1743. The department reminds applicants that late submissions will not be accepted, and recommends submitting early and keeping the system confirmation.
