Former NFL Star Antonio Brown Pleads Guilty, Gets Three Years' Probation With No Jail or Conviction

Former NFL star Antonio Brown pleaded guilty on Nov. 6 in Miami-Dade County court to aggravated assault with a firearm, and Judge Marissa Tinkler Mendez sentenced him to three years' probation with no jail time. Probation conditions include weekly counseling and a ban on possessing firearms; if he complies fully, he may apply to end probation early after about 18 months. The judge withheld adjudication, meaning Brown's official record will carry no criminal conviction. Brown, 38, had originally been charged with attempted second-degree murder, which carried up to 30 years in prison including a 20-year mandatory minimum. The case stems from a May 16, 2025 altercation outside a celebrity boxing event in Miami, where police say Brown fought with a man, seized a security guard's gun and fired; the victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, was grazed in the neck by a bullet. Prosecutors told the court they agreed to reduce the charge because whether Brown actually intended to shoot the victim was in doubt, and the trial would also have involved Florida's stand-your-ground law. An arrest warrant for Brown was issued in June 2025, and he was extradited from Dubai to the United States in November that year.
