Minnesota Governor Walz Welcomes Governor-Elect Klobuchar to the Residence, Pledges a Smooth Transition

Saturday, November 7, 2026 · States · GSM News

The Office of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said in its November 7 weekly briefing that Governor Walz welcomed Governor-elect Amy Klobuchar to the Governor's Residence on Friday, November 6, to congratulate her and ensure a smooth transition of power.

"Gwen and I were excited to welcome Governor-elect Klobuchar to the residence today. Minnesotans are in good hands!" Governor Walz said.

In a statement to state employees, Walz thanked the tens of thousands of workers he has served alongside over nearly eight years — the people who plow roads, inspect water, process benefits, care for veterans, protect natural resources and support students and families — and recalled carrying the state through a pandemic, civil unrest, floods and wildfires.

Walz wrote that elections end but the work does not, and asked employees to welcome the incoming team, share what they know, and make the transition smooth, professional and respectful. Serving as governor, he said, has been the honor of his life.
