Loud Booms Over Riyadh: Coalition Says It Intercepted Two Houthi Ballistic Missiles Fired at the Saudi Capital

Saturday, November 7, 2026 · World News · GSM News

Riyadh — Multiple loud booms were heard in the Saudi capital Riyadh on November 8, shortly after Saudi Civil Defense issued an early-warning alert of a potential threat in the Riyadh region, Reuters reported. Civil Defense later said the danger had passed.

The Saudi-led coalition said its air defenses had intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles launched by Yemen's Houthi movement toward Riyadh, and later said it had also intercepted and destroyed two cruise missiles over Riyadh and Saudi Arabia's southern region. No casualties or damage in Riyadh had been reported as of the report.

Yemen's Houthi-run armed forces had announced six missile and drone operations against Saudi targets in retaliation for a Saudi airstrike on a village east of Sanaa. Yemen's health authorities said the death toll from that airstrike had risen to 33, with 39 wounded. GSM reported the Sanaa-area village airstrike on November 7; this story follows up with the Houthi retaliation and the Riyadh interceptions. (Source: Reuters)
