Thai Police Arrest 23-Year-Old Influencer Accused of Using a Paid VIP Group as Bait to Promote Gambling Sites to 640,000 Followers

KHON KAEN — Thailand's Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau announced on November 7 that it had arrested a 23-year-old social media influencer, Thantip, in Khon Kaen province, accusing her of using a paid "VIP" private group as bait to funnel followers to illegal gambling websites. The bureau's commissioner, Police Lieutenant General Tinkorn Rangmat, announced the arrest.
Police said Thantip, originally from Ubon Ratchathani province, was arrested in a dormitory room in Mueang Khon Kaen under a warrant from the Khon Kaen Provincial Court, and one mobile phone was seized. Two Instagram accounts she ran, with more than 230,000 followers, regularly posted revealing images alongside links to gambling sites, and linked Facebook and TikTok accounts had a combined audience exceeding 640,000 followers, according to police. The accounts directed people interested in adult content to a LINE account that sold "VIP" access for 100 baht, promising uncensored videos and private livestreams, which in fact led to gambling websites.
Police said Thantip admitted promoting more than 10 gambling websites over the previous two years, earning about 20,000 baht a month. The account above reflects the allegations and statements released by police; the case remains subject to judicial process.
