Wisconsin Badgers Beat Delaware 73-64 to Open Season 2-0

MADISON, Wisconsin — The University of Wisconsin Badgers defeated the University of Delaware 73-64 at the Kohl Center in Madison on the night of November 6, opening the season 2-0 and extending their home non-conference winning streak to 21 games.
Wisconsin shot poorly, hitting just 39.7 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three-point range, but won with hard-nosed team defense, holding Delaware to 35.6 percent shooting. Braeden Carrington and Owen Foxwell scored 16 points apiece to share the team lead, forward Victory Onuetu posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, and five Badgers scored in double figures. Delaware, which had scored 105 points in its season opener, briefly tied the game early in the second half before Wisconsin pulled away.
Head coach Greg Gard said afterward that the offense still sputtered, and it was the second straight game in which Wisconsin beat a lower-division opponent by single digits. The Badgers next play at home on the night of November 10 against Fairfield University.
