Sunday, November 8, 2026 · States · GSM News

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced that all veterans, active military personnel, and everyone in their vehicle, will be admitted free to DNR-managed state parks, reservoir properties, state forest recreation areas and off-road state recreation areas on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11. The free admission also includes the Falls of the Ohio State Park's Interpretive Center.

"The Indiana DNR honors the service, sacrifice and dedication of our veterans and military service members," said Brandt Baughman, Indiana State Parks director. "For their commitment to the nation, we invite them to come explore our state parks and properties."

Veterans and military personnel simply need to tell the gate attendant at the property that they are a veteran or currently serving in the military. Information on state park, reservoir and forest properties is available in the DNR recreation guide at on.IN.gov/recguide, and interpretive program information is at interpretiveservices.IN.gov.

Falls of the Ohio State Park, in southern Indiana across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky, is known for its exposed Devonian-era fossil beds, and its Interpretive Center is included in the Veterans Day offer. (Source: Indiana Department of Natural Resources)
