San Diego County Seeks Input on Two Valley Center Parks at November 14 Community Workshop

The County of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department invites residents of Valley Center, in San Diego County, California, to help plan the future of Star Valley Park and Butterfield Trails Ranch. An in-person community workshop will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Valley Center Community Hall (Lower Meeting Room), with an online workshop on Dec. 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. by registration.
County Parks took over the 40-acre Star Valley Park in 2021 after the local parks district was dissolved, and purchased the 60-acre Butterfield Trails Ranch in 2023 to turn into a new public park. One idea under consideration is an intergenerational center where people of all ages can connect, alongside other park features and programs.
Residents can share ideas through the workshops, an online survey and an email list. The project page, updated Nov. 5, includes project maps and frequently asked questions.
