Bayern Keeper Neuer Suffers Partial Foot Tendon Tear a Day After Club Appearance Record; Reportedly Out About Two Months

Sunday, November 8, 2026 · Sports · GSM News

Bayern Munich said on Sunday that captain and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer suffered a partial tendon tear in his right foot during Saturday's 2-1 Bundesliga win at Mainz. The club gave no timeframe for his return, while German newspaper Bild reported the 40-year-old is expected to be out for around two months.

Neuer was forced off shortly before halftime after aggravating the foot injury. On the same day, at 40 years and 225 days, he became Bayern's oldest-ever player, surpassing Bernd Dreher. He had missed four matches with the same problem before returning for the midweek 2-0 Champions League victory at Atletico Madrid.

Bayern top the Bundesliga with 21 points from nine matches and next host Cologne on November 20.
