Orpheus Chamber Orchestra Joins Pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason in Costa Mesa on November 10 with Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 27
The Grammy Award-winning Orpheus Chamber Orchestra returns to Orange County with British pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason on Tuesday, November 10, at 8 p.m. at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa, California, presented by the Philharmonic Society of Orange County.
The concert hall, part of Segerstrom Center for the Arts, is at 615 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, in Orange County, California. A pre-concert lecture by Brian Lauritzen of Classical California begins at 7 p.m.
The program pairs selections from Handel's Water Music Suite with Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 27 in B-flat major, K. 595, featuring Kanneh-Mason as soloist, followed by the Southern California premiere of Elixir of Life, a newly commissioned work by Welsh composer Katie Jenkins, and Haydn's Symphony No. 91 in E-flat major, Hob.I:91. The performance is made possible with support from The Segerstrom Foundation.
Founded in New York in 1972, Orpheus has performed without a conductor for more than fifty years, making collective musical decisions and recording more than 70 albums. Kanneh-Mason, a Decca Classics artist, last appeared in the region in 2024 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under Vasily Petrenko as part of the Philharmonic Society's Orchestra Residency, and she and her brother, cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, served as the Society's Virtual Artists-in-Residence in 2020.
Tickets start at $31 through the Philharmonic Society box office and the Segerstrom Center box office. Artists, dates, venues, programs and prices are subject to change.
