Iran Executes Three Men the Judiciary Says Acted for the United States and Israel During the January Protests

Sunday, November 8, 2026 · World · GSM News

TEHRAN — Iran's judiciary announced on November 8 that three men had been executed that day. The judiciary's media centre said Hassan Divband, Hamid Kazemi and Reza Zanganeh had been convicted by the Karaj Revolutionary Court and that the executions were carried out after the Supreme Court upheld their death sentences; the case had 11 defendants in total.

The judiciary said the three were accused of carrying out operations on behalf of Israel, the United States and hostile groups during the January 8-9 protests in Karaj, west of Tehran, including attacking public buildings, using firearms and homemade explosives, and damaging an electricity substation. The three were the first, second and third defendants in the case.

The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights said the three were executed at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, and that Reza Zanganeh, 27, was a car mechanic whose alleged collaboration with Israel's Mossad rested solely on his work repairing foreign vehicles and his earlier work-related travel abroad. The evidence behind the convictions has not been independently verified, and this report presents the accounts of the Iranian judiciary and of the human rights organisation as each stated them.
