Penn State Legend Jack Ham Stable at UW Medical Center After Pregame Medical Emergency in Seattle

SEATTLE, Washington — Penn State football legend and longtime radio broadcaster Jack Ham was in stable condition at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle on the evening of Saturday, November 7. About an hour before Penn State's road game at Washington kicked off, Ham suffered a medical emergency and was rushed to the hospital. University officials said the 77-year-old Ham fell ill inside Husky Stadium, with his longtime radio partner, play-by-play announcer Steve Jones, at his side.
Penn State head coach Matt Campbell opened his postgame press conference by addressing Ham's condition and thanking those who helped him and got him to the hospital. The university has not disclosed the nature of Ham's medical issue or further details. Penn State went on to beat Washington 28-25, holding off the Huskies' second-half rally.
Ham is a legend of Penn State football who has served as the team's radio analyst for years since retiring and is beloved by fans. His sudden emergency concerned supporters of both teams; the school said updates will follow in due course, and fans have filled social media with prayers for his recovery.
