British Fashion Awards Set for November 30 in London: Awar Odhiang Named Model of the Year, Sarah Burton Earns Two Nominations
The British Fashion Council announced on November 4 that model Awar Odhiang will be honoured as Model of the Year at The Fashion Awards 2026, to be presented at the ceremony on Monday, November 30, at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The award recognises a model whose global impact has defined the industry over the last year, with influence that extends beyond the catwalk. Presented by Pandora, The Fashion Awards is the world's biggest fashion fundraiser and a defining global platform for British fashion.
Born in a refugee camp in Ethiopia and raised in Canada, Odhiang has become one of fashion's defining faces of 2026 since closing Matthieu Blazy's debut show at Chanel. She has appeared on eight international magazine covers this year and fronted campaigns for Chanel, Chloé, Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent, Loro Piana and H&M. "To be recognised as Model of the Year is an incredible honour. I have always believed that you can be both kind and strong, both gentle and resilient," she said. BFC chief executive Laura Weir said Odhiang had brought a truly special energy to fashion this year.
The winners of the ceremony's competitive categories will be revealed on the night. The six nominees for Designer of the Year, which recognises a British or international designer who has made an outstanding impact on the global fashion industry in 2026, are Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent, Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen for The Row, Haider Ackermann for Tom Ford, Matthieu Blazy for Chanel, Michael Rider for Celine and Sarah Burton for Givenchy.
The British Womenswear Designer of the Year nominees are Clare Waight Keller for Uniqlo, Erdem Moralıoğlu for Erdem, Louise Trotter for Bottega Veneta, Sarah Burton for Givenchy and Simone Rocha. The British Menswear Designer of the Year nominees are Foday Dumbuya for Labrum, Kiko Kostadinov, Nick Wakeman for Studio Nicholson, Simon Holloway for Dunhill and Simone Rocha. Burton and Rocha each hold two nominations, a talking point of this year's shortlist.
The Vanguard Award, which recognises a designer at the forefront of a new wave in British fashion, is contested by Conner Ives, Ellie Misner, Steve O Smith and Tolu Coker. The shortlist was selected by a jury of 18 critics, editors and buyers, and a voting committee of industry figures will now cast confidential votes to decide each winner.
