Shohei Ohtani Among NL MVP Finalists as 2026 BBWAA Award Slates Are Announced

The finalists for Major League Baseball's major 2026 individual awards are set. The Baseball Writers' Association of America on Nov. 2 announced the top three finishers for each of its five awards in both leagues, with Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers among the three finalists for National League Most Valuable Player. Winners will be announced live on MLB Network beginning Nov. 9, with each show starting at 7 p.m. ET.
In the MVP races, the American League finalists are Yordan Alvarez of the Astros, Junior Caminero of the Rays and Bobby Witt Jr. of the Royals, while the National League finalists are Pete Crow-Armstrong of the Cubs, Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers and Brice Turang of the Brewers. The Cy Young finalists are Dylan Cease, Parker Messick and Cam Schlittler in the AL, and Jacob Misiorowski, Cristopher Sanchez and Chris Sale in the NL.
Rookie of the Year, announced first on Nov. 9, pits Kevin McGonigle, Parker Messick and Payton Tolle in the AL against Carson Benge, Sal Stewart and JJ Wetherholt in the NL. Manager of the Year follows on Nov. 10, with Kevin Cash, Chad Tracy and Will Venable in the AL and Don Mattingly, Pat Murphy and Walt Weiss in the NL.
Reliever of the Year will be announced Nov. 11 alongside the Cy Young Award, with Bryan Baker, Cade Smith and Louis Varland in the AL and Jhoan Duran, Trevor Megill and Mason Miller in the NL. The MVP awards close the week on Nov. 12. The association notes that all voting took place before the start of the postseason, so only regular-season performance counts.
