Double Down Lounge and Morchella Open Nov. 7 in Portland at the Former 3 Doors Down Site

PORTLAND, Oregon — The Double Down Lounge and a 2.0 version of Morchella restaurant opened on Saturday, November 7 at 1429 SE 37th Avenue, taking over the longtime home of 3 Doors Down, which operated for decades. The lounge is run by Tigard restaurateurs Shela Aboud and her husband Jacob “Jake” Kagan, while Morchella is a forager-focused kitchen tucked inside the bar. The original 3 Doors Down, open since the 1990s, was a landmark in southeast Portland dining history; the new team is keeping the old spot's neighborhood feel, with hours set for Monday to Thursday 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Tuesday to Saturday 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. The operators say the public is welcome on opening day, with menus and drink lists themed on local ingredients to roll out over time.
