HONOLULU, Hawaii — Hawaiian Electric announced on November 6 the appointment of veteran Hawaii banker Peter Ho to its board of directors; he will also join the board of parent company Hawaiian Electric Industries (HEI) and serve on the parent's Audit and Risk Committee. Ho retired from Bank of Hawaii earlier this year after serving as its chairman and CEO since 2010 and as a director since 2005, and is one of the most influential Chinese American bankers in Hawaii business. In retirement he founded and serves as founding managing partner of Ilikai Advisors, a Hawaii-based investment and management advisory firm. He also served as a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco from 2013 to 2018, and on the Hawaii Community Foundation board, as vice chair and then chair from 2019 to 2025. Tim Johns, chair of the Hawaiian Electric and HEI boards, said in a statement that Ho's relationships and financial expertise will bring an important perspective to the boards. Hawaiian Electric is the principal power utility for Oahu and the Hawaiian Islands and faces the dual pressures of wildfire settlements and grid-resilience investment.
