WASHINGTON — Updated counts released November 7 in Washington show 19 of 24 county charter amendments across four counties on track to pass, focused on county governance, accountability and fiscal oversight reforms. The four counties are Clallam with 3 amendments, Clark with 9, Pierce with 7 and Snohomish with 5; thousands of ballots remain to be processed in each, and results will be certified on November 24. One Clallam County amendment had 14,622 votes in favor as of the evening of November 6, or 68.29% of votes on that measure. About 49,000 ballots remain in Clark County, 18,000 in Clallam, 31,000 in Snohomish and 2,000 in Pierce, with counting continuing on November 7 or the following Tuesday. The amendments cover budgeting, financial oversight and official accountability, part of the local results rolling in after the November 3 general election. Of Washington's 39 counties, only these four put charter amendments on the ballot. Election officials say close measures could still flip as remaining ballots are counted, with the certified results on November 24 final.
