Sacramento State Beats Kent State 31-10 for First-Ever MAC Victory

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State's football team beat Kent State 31-10 at Hornet Stadium on October 30 for the program's first-ever Mid-American Conference victory, the university reported.
Freshman running back Isaiah Ene rushed for a career-high 107 yards and two touchdowns, and the defense forced five turnovers. Kent State led 10-6 in the first half on Drew DeShields' 92-yard touchdown pass to Wayne Harris, but Sacramento State scored 25 unanswered second-half points and shut out the Golden Flashes after the break.
Grant Meadows kicked field goals of 42, 28 and 36 yards, and Donovan Turner's 38-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter sealed it. The win moves the Hornets to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in the MAC, snapping a six-game losing streak; Kent State falls to 3-6 and 2-3 in conference play.
Head coach Alonzo Carter said it was the complementary win the team had been searching for, a payoff for the players' season-long work. Sacramento State next hosts Toledo on November 4.
