Thunder's Chet Holmgren Out 8-10 Weeks With Small Patellar Tendon Tear

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The Oklahoma City Thunder announced on October 30 that All-Star center Chet Holmgren is expected to miss 8 to 10 weeks with a right knee injury, and that guard Cason Wallace underwent left shoulder surgery the same day, News 9 reported.
The Thunder said Holmgren felt mild right knee discomfort on October 25 and, after consultation with multiple medical specialists, underwent a biologic treatment on October 30 to address a small patellar tendon tear. The procedure was successful, and he is expected to make a full recovery and return in 8 to 10 weeks. Before the injury, Holmgren was averaging 12.0 points and 9.3 rebounds.
Wallace had surgery at the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles, performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache with Thunder medical staff present, to repair a torn left shoulder labrum. The team said he will be re-evaluated before the end of the 2026-27 season.
Injuries have piled up for the Thunder: All-Star wing Jalen Williams is already expected to miss the entire season after surgery for a serious leg injury, leaving the team to play much of the season without three starters.
