ESSEX, Vermont — The Burlington/South Burlington/Winooski SeaWolves beat the fourth-seeded Essex Hornets 15-7 on October 30 in a Division I quarterfinal, the cooperative program's first-ever playoff victory, advancing to the semifinals.

The SeaWolves went winless in 2025; one year later they seized a 15-0 lead less than five minutes into the game. Sophomore quarterback Kyle Knoth ran for the opening touchdown, and after Dom Comtois recovered an Essex fumble on the kickoff, Knoth threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Colton Bramhall.

The defense held Essex scoreless until midway through the fourth quarter and limited the Hornets to 215 yards of offense. Essex scored on Levi Bent's 26-yard pass to John Kinney, but the SeaWolves ran out the clock to close the win.

The SeaWolves (4-5) next travel to top-seeded, undefeated St. Johnsbury (9-0). Head coach Josh Safran took over the team mid-summer.
