Wichita's $615 Million School Bond Heads to November 3 Vote in Two Questions

Thursday, October 29, 2026 · States · GSM News

WICHITA, Kansas — Supporters and opponents of Wichita Public Schools' $615 million bond proposal are making a final push to sway undecided voters ahead of the November 3 election, KWCH reported. The supporting group "Vote Yes for Wichita Kids" and the opposing coalition "Improve Learning First" are both working to get their messages out.

Voters will decide the proposal in two questions. Question 1 totals $407.1 million, funding a new trades and career center and HVAC and air-quality upgrades across high schools and middle schools. Question 2 totals $207.9 million for repurposing and rebuilding school facilities, and can take effect only if Question 1 passes.

The proposal is the district's first bond attempt since voters approved $370 million in 2008; a $450 million proposal narrowly failed in February 2025.

Wichita Public Schools is one of Kansas's largest districts, and the result will shape its construction plans for years. Voters cast ballots on both questions on November 3.
