Ukraine's Good News Church Destroyed by Russian Missile During Worship Hours: Pastor Cancelled Service on Intelligence Warning, No One Inside
Ukraine's Good News Church was destroyed by a Russian missile strike during its normal worship time on October 18, according to the Baptist Press SBC Morning Briefing of October 26; Pastor Viktor Pavenko had cancelled services based on intelligence warnings, so no one was inside and there were no casualties.
The briefing also reported that a Ukrainian military guide code-named "Gideon" took a 60-mile detour to avoid a route known as "Death Road" in eastern Ukraine. Baptist Press included the Ukraine items in its morning briefing's news roundup.
The same briefing noted that Sunday, November 1, is the Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. The Good News Church was hit at the hour its congregation would normally have been worshipping; the advance cancellation kept worshippers out of the building.
