Trump Visits Peterbilt Truck Factory in Texas, Touts US Manufacturing and Tariffs

Thursday, October 1, 2026 · White House · GSM News

On October 1, 2026, President Trump visited the Peterbilt truck factory in Denton, Texas. The 85-year-old American truck maker now produces 200 trucks a day with orders outpacing supply and is expanding. In an hour-long speech, Trump called tariffs his 'favorite word,' touted record exports, a 44-year low in the trade deficit with China, nearly $4,000 in manufacturing wage gains and 60,000 new manufacturing jobs this year.

Trump announced the repeal of Biden-era fuel emission standards and heavy-truck nitrogen oxide rules — saving about $6,000 per truck — and addressed Venezuela, Iran, border security and crime while stumping for Texas AG Ken Paxton, whom he called 'the best attorney general in the country.'
