Edison International announced in Rosemead, California, on October 31 that applications are now open for the Edison Scholars program, which offers $50,000 scholarships to high school seniors pursuing college degrees in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

The program awards scholarships, paid over four years, to 30 high school seniors across Southern California Edison's (SCE) service area each year. Recipients can also apply for a paid summer internship with SCE after completing their first year at an accredited four-year college or university.

Applicants must be high school seniors living in SCE's service area who plan to enroll as full-time undergraduates majoring in a STEM field in the fall of 2027. Students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and demonstrate financial need. First-generation college students are especially encouraged to apply.

'Developing the next generation of STEM talent starts with creating opportunities for young people who are ready to make a difference,' said Pedro J. Pizarro, president and CEO of Edison International. 'The Edison Scholars program helps students pursue their education and build careers that will strengthen their communities and California's future.'

Funded entirely by Edison International shareholders, the program has awarded more than $22 million in scholarships to 850 students since 2006, with alumni building careers in fields including computer science, civil engineering and environmental science.

The application deadline is January 21, 2027; eligible students can apply through the Edison Scholars application page. Recipients will be announced in spring 2027.
