Dr. Yang Sun Lectures Tonight on Food Noise: GLP-1 Drugs, Behavioral Therapy and New Medications

Sunday, November 1, 2026 · Health · GSM News

The FreshLemon U.S. Medical Public Lecture series, presented by the U.S. Shenzhen Federation together with FreshLemon Chinese Health Education, continues tonight. This session, "When Willpower Is Not Enough: Food Noise, Behavioral Therapy and Medication," will be given by family physician Dr. Yang Sun, MD, online via Zoom tonight (Sunday, November 1) at 6 p.m. Pacific, free and open to the public.

The talk is part of the series "Food, Emotions and the Hidden Cycle of Addiction." It starts from a common struggle: food constantly on one's mind, and repeated failures to simply "hold back" through willpower alone. Its message is less self-blame and more methods, toward a better relationship with food.

The session has four highlights: why our brains keep thinking about food; what can be done besides "holding back"; how GLP-1 and similar medications help manage blood sugar, weight and appetite; and a new-drug frontiers segment on the development of CagriSema and retatrutide.

Dr. Yang Sun is a family physician and co-founder of FreshLemon Chinese Health. She has practiced medicine in the San Francisco Bay Area for more than 20 years, is a senior internal medicine physician at Kaiser Permanente and a clinical associate professor at Drexel University College of Medicine, and completed her residency training at a UCSF-affiliated hospital.
