After North Hollywood Incident, Los Angeles Mayor Announces ICE Accountability Steps

Sunday, November 1, 2026 · City · GSM News

Mayor Karen Bass of the City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, issued a statement on October 30 announcing actions to hold federal immigration agents accountable following an incident in North Hollywood, including engaging the state Attorney General's Office and referring the matter to Representative Robert Garcia.

Bass described the incident as unacceptable and said it will not be tolerated in Los Angeles, citing recent California laws and court victories as the basis for new accountability measures for federal agents. The statement did not release identifying information about the person involved in the incident.

Relations between the city and federal immigration enforcement have been tense in recent months. The city said it will keep using legal and administrative channels to protect residents' rights and asked residents to report problems through city channels.
