New Mexico Baptists Close Their Annual Meeting: A $4.64 Million Budget Passes, After 85 Churches Sent Nearly a Thousand Volunteers Into Their Communities

Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, hosted the 2026 Annual State Convention of the Baptist Convention of New Mexico on October 19-20, where 241 messengers and 83 guests from 89 churches gathered under the theme 'Treasuring Christ Together.'
Messengers approved all reports, resolutions and a proposed 2027 budget of $4,637,450, up from the 2026 operating budget of $4,540,150. Twenty percent of the undesignated Cooperative Program funds from New Mexico churches will go toward national and international Cooperative Program ministries. President Chris Promersberger and the convention's two vice presidents were reelected.
During the final session, church missions staff reported on this year's One Day outreach: on September 26, 85 cooperating churches sent 943 volunteers to Roswell, including the nearby towns of Hagerman and Dexter, and to the East Mountains, sharing the Gospel through block parties, free garage sales, clothing giveaways and door-to-door evangelism. Thirty people received Christ during the day, and several thousand Gospel conversations took place. Attendees voted on where to send volunteers in 2027.
Executive Director Steve Ballew encouraged attendees in his report to go and share the Gospel, and Lifeway Christian Resources President Ryan Blackwell spoke about the publisher's future goals.
The 2027 Annual Meeting will take place October 25-26 at First Baptist Church, Bloomfield.
