Early Application Deadlines Hit Nov. 1 at Harvard, Stanford, Columbia and More

Sunday, November 1, 2026 · Education · GSM News

November 1 is the early application deadline for fall 2027 admission at many top U.S. universities, according to the schools' published admissions calendars. Early Decision I, Early Action or Restrictive Early Action applications close on November 1 at Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, Yale, MIT, Caltech, Columbia, Cornell, the University of Pennsylvania, Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, Rice, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, Georgetown, NYU, the University of Michigan and Emory, among others.

Early Decision is binding: admitted students must enroll and withdraw other applications. Early Action and Restrictive Early Action are non-binding. Early decisions are typically released in mid-December. The University of California system has no early round; its single application deadline is December 1. International applicants face the same November 1 deadlines, with submission cutoffs set by each school, usually 11:59 p.m. Eastern.
