The New York State Police reported on November 3 that troopers from Endwell responded on November 2 at approximately 2:50 p.m. to a two-vehicle crash involving an SUV and a school bus at the intersection of Sally Piper Road and Farm to Market Road in the town of Union, Broome County, New York.

Investigators determined that Anthony John Scarano, 84, of Vestal, was driving a 2025 BMW X3 westbound on Sally Piper Road when he failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and collided with a Maine Endwell School District bus traveling northbound on Farm to Market Road. The bus driver, James Warner Coyne, 60, of Newark Valley, and 23 passengers ranging in age from 11 to 18 did not report any injuries.

Scarano and a 79-year-old female passenger were transported to UHS Wilson Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Scarano was issued a traffic citation.

Members of the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit responded to assist, and traffic was diverted in the area while the investigation was conducted.
