Florida Secretary of State Issues Election Day Reminders: Polls Open Until 7 p.m., Vote at Your Assigned Precinct With Photo ID

Florida Secretary of State Cord Byrd issued an election readiness update on October 26 in Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, ahead of the general election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Byrd said early voting is under way statewide and that it is the state's duty to ensure every election is administered efficiently and with high integrity.
All Florida counties offer early voting from October 24 to 31, with some counties adding days; locations and times for all 67 counties are listed on the Division of Elections website. The deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot has passed (5 p.m. on October 22, the 12th day before the election), and, excluding overseas military ballots, all ballots must be received by 7 p.m. local time on Election Day to be counted.
On Election Day, polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, and any voter in line at 7:00 p.m. may still cast a ballot. Voters must vote at their assigned polling place on Election Day, which they can find on their voter information card, through their county supervisor of elections, or on the Division's precinct lookup page.
Florida law requires voters to present a current and valid photo ID during early voting and on Election Day, and requires that paper ballots be provided. Suspected fraud or election-law violations can be reported to Florida's Voter Fraud Hotline at 877-868-3737 or online through the Department of State's Office of Election Crimes and Security (OECS), established in 2022, which made nearly 900 referrals to law enforcement last year. Last month, Governor Ron DeSantis, Attorney General James Uthmeier and Secretary Byrd announced the arrest of 20 defendants charged with illegal voting.
Preliminary unofficial results will be posted on the Florida Election Watch website on November 3; because Florida spans the Eastern and Central time zones, results will not be posted until 8:00 p.m. EST, and county canvassing boards must begin reporting within half an hour after polls close and every 45 minutes thereafter. Election Day turnout will be updated hourly on the same site.
