Rams Beat Chargers 24-9 in Battle for LA: 21 Unanswered Points After Halftime as Chargers Stay Winless Without a Touchdown

The Los Angeles Rams scored 21 unanswered points after halftime to beat the Los Angeles Chargers 24-9 in the Week 8 Battle for LA on November 1 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The Rams won back-to-back games for the first time this season and improved to 4-4, while the Chargers did not score a touchdown all day and fell to 0-7.
The Rams' offense looked stuck for most of the first half, managing just 10 rushing yards and no first down until Matthew Stafford hit Tutu Atwell for 40 yards down the left sideline with 1:26 left in the half. That set up Kyren Williams' 1-yard touchdown run with 19 seconds left, giving the Rams a 10-9 halftime lead. The Chargers had led 9-3 on three Cameron Dicker field goals (34, 46 and 41 yards); the Rams' first points came on Brandon McManus' 30-yard field goal after Quentin Lake's first-quarter interception.
The Rams took over after the break. Blake Corum opened the second half with a 23-yard touchdown run for 17-9. After Trent McDuffie recorded Justin Herbert's second interception of the day, Stafford found Puka Nacua on a screen pass that went 18 yards for a touchdown and a 24-9 lead. The Rams finished with 129 rushing yards after their slow start.
Stafford finished 17-of-25 for 157 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Nacua caught 11 of 12 targets for 80 yards and a score, Corum ran 11 times for 73 yards and a touchdown, and Williams added 56 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. For the Chargers, Herbert went 24-of-32 for 257 yards with two interceptions, Ladd McConkey led the team with four catches for 86 yards, and all nine points came from Dicker's field goals.
The Rams did leave with two injury concerns at cornerback: Jaylen Watson exited with a shoulder issue and did not return, and McDuffie was later sidelined with a back injury. The Rams visit the Washington Commanders in Week 9, while the Chargers host the Houston Texans.
