Two RV Makers Recall 777 Trailers: Power Seat Cord Fuse May Not Protect Against Short-Circuit Fire

Two recreational vehicle manufacturers are recalling a combined 777 trailers over the same type of defect, according to recall acknowledgment letters published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Ember Recreational Vehicles is recalling 259 model year 2024 E-Series travel trailers (campaign 26V714), while Heartland Recreational Vehicles is recalling 518 fifth-wheel trailers (campaign 26V710) covering the 2024 Torque, Bighorn and Cyclone and the 2022-2023 Gravity and Road Warrior.
Both groups of trailers are equipped with certain power seating assemblies whose power cord fuse may not provide adequate circuit protection. NHTSA says that in the event of a short circuit, the inadequate protection increases the risk of a fire; the affected components are in the electrical system's wiring and fuses category.
Both remedies are free of charge. Ember dealers will replace the power cord, with owner notification letters expected to be mailed November 23; owners may contact Ember customer service at 1-844-732-4204. Heartland dealers will replace the harness and power cord, with letters expected November 30; owners may contact Heartland at 1-877-262-8032, and Heartland's number for the recall is 990182. The manufacturers' reports were submitted to NHTSA on October 28 and October 27, respectively. (Source: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration)
