World Gymnastics All-Around: USA's Skye Blakely Wins With 55.733; China's Ke Qinqin Takes Bronze, Zhang Qingying Ties for Ninth

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands — Skye Blakely of the United States won the women's all-around final at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships on Friday, October 23, totaling 55.733 points for the 15th world all-around title for the U.S. women. Ludmila Roshchina, competing for Russia under the FIG's neutral-team banner, took silver with 55.199, while China's Ke Qinqin earned bronze at 55.032; China's Zhang Qingying tied for ninth at 54.098.
According to USA Today's live coverage from Rotterdam, Blakely scored 14.200 on vault, 14.400 on uneven bars, 14.200 on balance beam and 12.933 on floor exercise, prevailing by 0.534 points. Ke's four-event line was 14.033 on vault, 13.900 on bars, 13.833 on beam — where she fell on her dismount — and 13.266 on floor. Top qualifier Kaylia Nemour of Algeria stumbled on her vault run-up, missed the springboard and performed only a layout, losing about 1.4 points of difficulty for a 12.366; she finished fourth at 54.998, just 0.034 out of bronze. The other American, Claire Pease, fell off the beam for 12.533 and ended seventh at 54.232 — two days after posting 56.099, the highest all-around score of the entire team final.
The title capped a comeback for the 21-year-old University of Florida junior. NBC reported that Blakely ruptured her right Achilles in training shortly before the 2024 Olympic Trials, requiring surgery and ending her Paris hopes; she had earlier torn an elbow ligament warming up for the Tokyo Olympic Trials. "It truly means the world to me," Blakely said, "knowing how much I've been through — two major surgeries, a lot of hardships, ups and downs." Her win extended the U.S. women's streak of placing at least one gymnast on every Olympic and world all-around podium since 2003 — 24 consecutive global championships — and made Blakely the seventh American woman to win the world all-around title in that span. Notably absent: two-time champion Angelina Melnikova (2021, 2025), denied a visa by Dutch authorities, and all three medalists from the Paris 2024 all-around, none of whom contested this year's final.
