California Secretary of State Reminds Voters: Workers May Take Up to Two Hours of Paid Time Off to Vote, Polls Open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on November 3

Sacramento, California: Ahead of the November 3 general election, the California Secretary of State's office is reminding voters that state law allows workers up to two hours off, without loss of pay, to vote if they do not have enough time to do so during non-work hours.
In its October 27 press release (PR26-134), the office said workers who need time off must notify their employer two working days before Election Day. Every California employer is required to post, in a visible location, a notice informing employees of this right at least 10 days before an election, and the Secretary of State offers free, print-ready notices in 10 languages.
On Election Day, polling locations across California will be open from 7:00 a.m. through 8:00 p.m. Voters can return their voted ballots at a secure drop box, at a polling location or vote center, or through the U.S. Postal Service. Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and received no later than seven calendar days after Election Day to be counted, and the office recommends mailing as soon as possible.
Voters can find ballot return locations through the Secretary of State's early voting site, track their ballot by signing up for Where's My Ballot, and find more voter information at vote.ca.gov. The office runs toll-free hotlines in several languages, including Chinese at (800) 339-2857 and English at (800) 345-VOTE (8683).
