US markets face a triple test this week (November 2-6) from earnings, the midterm elections and the October jobs report. About 135 S&P 500 companies are scheduled to report results this week, according to Barron's, making it one of the busiest stretches of the third-quarter earnings season.

On Monday, November 2, the Institute for Supply Management releases its October manufacturing PMI at 10 a.m. Eastern. After the close, Apple reports fiscal fourth-quarter results: the company has guided to revenue growth of 9% to 11% year over year and a gross margin of 47% to 48%, while analysts on average expect earnings of about $1.98 a share on revenue of roughly $113 billion. It will be the first earnings call hosted by John Ternus, who became chief executive in September. Data analytics firm Palantir also reports third-quarter results after Monday's close; the company has guided to revenue of $2.160 billion to $2.164 billion, with market expectations slightly above the top of that range.

Tuesday, November 3 is Election Day in the US midterm elections, which GSM's election desk will follow throughout the day; AMD reports earnings after the close, following a 10.9% drop in its shares during Friday's chip selloff. Qualcomm and Arm report on Wednesday, November 4.

On Friday, November 6, the Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes the October employment report at 8:30 a.m. Eastern, the week's most consequential economic release and a key input ahead of the Federal Reserve's December meeting. The backdrop: all three major indexes fell last week, the S&P 500 for a third straight week, as investors weigh the payoff from super intelligence (SI) spending after October's sharp tech pullback.
