The 2026 World Series Opens Friday: Rays Against Brewers With All Games at 8 p.m. ET on Fox as Both Clubs Chase Their First Championship

Major League Baseball has released the schedule for the 2026 World Series, the 122nd edition of the Fall Classic, which opens on Friday, October 23, with the National League champion Milwaukee Brewers hosting the American League champion Tampa Bay Rays in a best-of-seven series. All games are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Eastern Time and will be televised by Fox and Fox Deportes, with streaming on Fox One. Neither club has ever won the World Series; it is the first matchup since 1980 between two teams both seeking their first championship, the first such matchup featuring two expansion teams, and the series will be played entirely in domed or retractable-roof stadiums.
The schedule: Game 1 on October 23 and Game 2 on October 24 at American Family Field in Milwaukee; Game 3 on October 26, Game 4 on October 27 and, if necessary, Game 5 on October 28 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg; and, if necessary, Game 6 on October 30 and Game 7 on October 31 back in Milwaukee. The Brewers hold home-field advantage with the league's best regular-season record at 103-59; the Rays finished 98-64. Milwaukee won two of the three regular-season meetings between the clubs, played in Milwaukee from March 30 to April 1, and this is the first postseason meeting between the franchises.
Managed by Pat Murphy, the Brewers swept the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series to reach their first World Series since 1982, when they won the American League pennant before losing to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games; this is the franchise's first National League pennant. The Rays beat the Cleveland Guardians in six games in the American League Championship Series, clinching with a 7-3 win in Game 6 on October 19, to reach the World Series for the third time, having lost to the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008 and the Dodgers in 2020. The Guardians' title drought, dating to 1948, is the longest in the league at 77 years. All three of this year's finalists rank in the bottom third of league payrolls.
Starting lineups and pitching matchups for Game 1 have not yet been announced.
