Bank of America Names Jim Fitterling and Bill Thomas to Board of Directors: Dow Executive Chairman and Former KPMG Global Chairman Join
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — Bank of America, headquartered in Charlotte, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, announced on October 21 that its Board of Directors has appointed two new directors, effective immediately: Jim Fitterling, Executive Chairman of Dow Inc., and Bill Thomas, former Global Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of KPMG International. Fitterling, 65, has worked at Dow for more than 40 years; he served as Dow's Chief Executive Officer from 2018 to 2026, was elected Board Chair in 2020, and now serves as Executive Chairman. He has also served on the Board of Directors of 3M since 2021 and was named lead director in 2024, and he has chaired the National Association of Manufacturers and the American Chemistry Council.
Thomas, 58, led KPMG's global network from 2017 to 2026, a network of 265,000 professionals across 143 countries and territories. He has nearly four decades of experience in audit, accounting and financial reporting and is a chartered accountant. Brian Moynihan, Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Bank of America, said both men are seasoned CEOs who have led large, global organizations, with Fitterling bringing decades of experience in a complex industry and significant public company board credentials, and Thomas bringing deep expertise in audit, accounting and financial reporting. Lionel Nowell III, Lead Independent Director, said the two will help strengthen the board's oversight of the company's long-term strategy.
