North Texas Food Bank, Dallas College and UNIQLO to Distribute Food and Warm Clothing to 500 Families on October 28

The North Texas Food Bank, Dallas College and UNIQLO announced on October 21 that they will hold a public mobile food distribution on October 28 from 10 a.m. to noon at Dallas College North Lake, 5001 N. MacArthur Blvd., Irving, Texas. According to the GlobeNewswire announcement, the drive-through event will serve approximately 500 families, each receiving about 60 pounds of nutritious food along with HEATTECH thermal clothing provided by UNIQLO. No registration is required, but participants must arrive in a vehicle; food will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, no ID is required, and families will be asked to share their household size and ZIP code.
The announcement, citing new Feeding America data, said Texas continues to lead the nation in the number of people facing food insecurity, with the Dallas-Fort Worth area ranking fourth among major U.S. metros, and that in the food bank's 12-county service area nearly 800,000 neighbors, including 291,000 children, struggle to access enough food. Dallas College has partnered with the food bank since 2019 and operates fourteen food pantries across its seven campuses and seven workforce centers. UNIQLO said its Heart of LifeWear initiative will donate more than 76,000 HEATTECH items across the United States and, through its partnership with Feeding America, will help provide 2.5 million meals this year.
