Denver Unveils 20-Year Burnham Yard Vision Covering 820 Acres Around Proposed Broncos Stadium

Denver is a city in Denver County, Colorado (a consolidated city-county). Denver media reported on October 14 that the City of Denver released a 20-year vision for the neighborhoods around Burnham Yard, the first long-term plan for the area surrounding the proposed new Broncos stadium. The Burnham Yard Small Area Plan covers about 820 acres from Colfax Avenue to Alameda Avenue and outlines transportation, retail and entertainment development.
The city said the plan calls for a range of housing types at different affordability levels and lists preventing displacement of existing residents and businesses as a main priority. It also proposes more transit service near the stadium, a trail network, and a new north-south corridor called Burnham Parkway between Colfax and Alameda.
Alexandra Foster, a spokesperson for Denver's Community Planning and Development Department, said the corridor is intended to improve connectivity through the site and ease pressure when large crowds leave at the same time. Baker resident Jim Abraham said he is watching the effect of rising property values and taxes on current residents after the stadium is built.
