Denver Committee Advances East Colfax Sidewalk Bill Covering 39 Parcels

Denver is a city in Denver County, Colorado (a consolidated city-county). Denver's Finance and Business Committee has approved a bill authorizing property acquisition for the East Colfax Council District 8 Sidewalk Project, according to the committee's minutes, The Badger reported on October 16. Committee approval is not final enactment; the filed bill still requires passage by the full City Council and mayoral approval.
The bill lists 39 parcels, numbered TE-1 through TE-39, along the project segment running from Willow Street west to Quebec Street, between North 16th and North 13th avenues. Its stated purpose is to install sidewalks where they are missing, connecting neighborhood destinations and open spaces and providing safe passage along the corridor.
Under the bill, the city could acquire the needed property interests through negotiation or, in specified circumstances, through condemnation. The bill notes that listing a parcel does not mean the city has acquired an interest in it, or that it necessarily will. The filed copy contains no entry recording council passage or mayoral approval, so the project remains at the committee stage.
