Honolulu EMS Opens New Kaimukī Station, Expanding 24-Hour Coverage in East Honolulu

Honolulu is a city in Honolulu County, Hawaii (a consolidated city-county). The City and County of Honolulu said its Emergency Medical Services Department held a blessing on October 14 for the new Kaimukī ambulance station. The station, at 3650 Waialae Avenue in the Civil Beat Plaza Building, sits between the EMS Pawaʻa One unit near the Honolulu Zoo and the Wailupe station, and operates around the clock, covering Kaimukī, Pālolo Valley and Kāhala, with backup support for East Oʻahu, Waikīkī and Mōʻiliʻili. Mayor Rick Blangiardi and Emergency Services Director Jim Ireland spoke at the ceremony. Since beginning operations on October 4, the Kaimukī ambulance has responded to more than 200 emergency calls and transported more than 100 patients to emergency rooms. The station includes two crew resting rooms, a dining area and kitchen, and showers.
