Minnesota Opens Election Reporting Form: Voters Can Report Intimidation and Deceptive Information

The office of Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison has opened an online Election Report Form through which voters can report election intimidation and deceptive information during voting ahead of the November 3 general election in Minnesota. The form was announced on October 20 and reported on October 21, and covers incidents occurring between September 18, when general-election voting began, and Election Day.
According to MinneapoliMedia, intimidation includes threats, violence, harm and threatened job loss that could affect whether someone registers, votes or supports a particular candidate, as well as intimidation directed at election officials and people helping others participate. Reports can also concern deepfakes and other deceptive technology and information intended to influence an election. The attorney general's office said that for incidents at a polling place, residents should notify an election judge and police immediately in addition to submitting a report; the office will investigate potential violations of Minnesota law and may refer complaints to other state entities. Accompanying voting-rights guidance explains protections for voters traveling to and from polling places and provides links for checking registration, locating polling places and reviewing ballot information. Minnesota permits registration when casting an early ballot and at the polling place on Election Day.
