Bandai Namco confirms Gundam Base Minneapolis opens October 30 at Mall of America
BLOOMINGTON, Minnesota — The Mall of America in Bloomington, Hennepin County, Minnesota, is getting a destination for Gundam fans. Bandai Namco announced on social media on October 22 that The Gundam Base Minneapolis will open on Friday, October 30, alongside the Bandai Namco Cross Store Minneapolis.
According to CBR, the two stores were originally scheduled to open on September 30, 2026, but the company abruptly canceled the opening three days beforehand without an official explanation; online comments at the time suggested the retail spaces were far from ready, though Bandai Namco never confirmed that. Until this announcement, the opening dates had remained "to be determined."
The Minneapolis store is the second Gundam Base in North America: the first U.S. location opened in Chicago on December 12, 2025, and a Seattle store at Westfield Southcenter in Tukwila, Washington, is still expected in fall 2026. Bandai Namco says the store will stock GUNPLA model kits for builders of all skill levels, exclusive products, life-sized displays and immersive themed environments, and will host community events. Since opening in 2025, the Chicago store has welcomed thousands of visitors from across North America.
