New Pittsburgh International Airport Terminal Opens; $1.7 Billion, 811,000-Square-Foot Facility

Pittsburgh is a city in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania media reported on October 14 that the new terminal at Pittsburgh International Airport opened that day, with Governor Josh Shapiro joining state and local elected officials at the ceremony. The 811,000-square-foot terminal is the centerpiece of the airport's $1.7 billion Terminal Modernization Program.
Officials said the terminal has 12 security lanes, is expected to cut passenger travel time in half, and adds 6,000 parking spaces, with art installations by regional artists inside. The modernization program has created an estimated 14,300 jobs and $2.5 billion in regional economic activity, and extends the airport's life by 40 years.
Shapiro said the terminal will streamline the airport experience and serve as a gateway to the region. Officials also noted Pittsburgh's hosting of the 2026 NFL Draft, expected to draw as many as 700,000 visitors and generate $213 million in economic impact, which the new terminal will help serve.
