Veteran WRAL Producer Arrested in TV Station Lobby Over Alleged Domestic Violence Order Violation

A veteran investigative producer for WRAL-TV (Channel 5, NBC) in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, was arrested by police inside the station's lobby on October 21, accused of violating a domestic violence restraining order.
According to police records, the producer, Randall Kerr, who has worked at WRAL since 2004, allegedly violated a domestic violence restraining order issued by a court in January when he was found driving on October 13 in the neighborhood where a person protected under the order lives. Kerr is being held in county jail without bond until his arraignment. The allegations remain accusations unless and until proven in court.
Kerr was married to former WRAL anchor Lynda Loveland; their divorce was finalized on October 9. In an email to employees on October 21, WRAL said Kerr is currently on leave and is banned from the station's offices at this time, without providing further details.
WRAL is owned by Capitol Broadcasting Company, based in Raleigh. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
