Smith Entertainment Group Unveils 35-Acre Downtown Salt Lake City District Vision Tied to Delta Center

Salt Lake City is a city in Salt Lake County, Utah. Sports business media reported on October 14 that Smith Entertainment Group unveiled its vision for downtown Salt Lake City: a four-block, 35-acre district tied to the renovation of Delta Center. The plan includes a 6,000-seat Live Nation music venue with 80 to 120 shows a year, a near-total rebuild of the Salt Palace Convention Center, a renovation of Abravanel Hall, and a new art museum.
The group said demolition and construction will begin in February 2027, with elements run by the city, the county and the group's in-house real estate team. The overall price tag has not been disclosed and has previously been reported as a multi-billion-dollar investment; a $900 million public funding commitment for the Delta Center renovation and downtown district was made earlier, alongside 30-year lease extensions for the Jazz and the Mammoth.
Smith Entertainment Group CEO Ryan Smith said the district will be a place for families and people to gather. All pieces of the project are to be completed before the end of 2033, ahead of the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City.
