Jazz Rout Clippers by 31 in Delta Center Opener: George Scores 31 on 14-of-19 Shooting
The Utah Jazz opened their home schedule at Delta Center in Salt Lake City in style on October 21, routing the Los Angeles Clippers 118-87. Guard Keyonte George was the star, scoring 31 points on 14-of-19 shooting with 9 assists and 5 steals. Utah poured in 40 first-quarter points to seize control early.
Head coach Will Hardy called the win 'a textbook example of team basketball,' with scoring spread across the roster and the ball moving freely. The Jazz also signed 23-year-old guard Jordan Hawkins — the 15th overall pick in the 2023 draft, waived by New Orleans on October 18 — to a two-way contract this season.
A blowout win to open the home slate has Jazz fans excited about the young team's growth; Utah stays home for its next game. (GSM, from Sports Illustrated reporting)
